Course Overview

This course is designed to equip PhD students with the knowledge and skills needed to effectively integrate language-focused artificial intelligence (language AI) into their research processes. The curriculum focuses on practical applications of language AI in key areas such as literature review, text summarization, stylistic improvement of writing, and understanding the legal and ethical implications of language AI use. Regarding style, it places a special emphasis on the use of AI for students whose first language is not English, but who are working and publishing in an English-speaking academic environment. While the course emphasizes hands-on application of language AI tools and techniques, it does not require prior knowledge of coding or programming languages like Python. Instead, students will learn about language AI systems and their applications through lectures, case studies, and interactive workshops using user-friendly tools and platforms. The goal is to empower students to leverage language AI as a research tool while fostering awareness about its limitations and about ethical and legal restrictions.
