Why BA- and MA-Students Should Use AI With Caution When Studying

I wholeheartedly embrace the notion that using AI for studying Bachelor’s and Master’s degree courses is generally (but not exceptionlessly) detrimental to the goal of these degree courses, namely to instill deep knowledge, competencies, and character virtues in students. I have written a blog-post, where I detail my worries in this regard.

I am not of the same opinion regarding PhD studies and, to an even lesser degree regarding postgraduate, professional training. If you have a 50-year old who knows her trade inside out, it can be useful to spend one week to learn how to integrate AI into her workflow and become more productive. However, if you are a freshman student about to spend 5 years at university, this is exactly not what you should aim for.
